Pattern and Tutorial: Fursuit-sized Dog Muzzle Prop

Too much barking? Just can't stop talking in fursuit? Might bite? Maybe you or a friend needs a muzzle!

This is a sewing pattern and tutorial digital download on how to make a fursuit-sized dog muzzle. It includes notes on adjusting the size to fit shorter or broader snouts on fursuit masks as well. The pattern and accompanying visual tutorial demonstrates making a mesh muzzle like pictured, but you can use any fun fabric (such as cotton print, fleece, etc.) as well! This pattern was designed to have the appearance of an actual dog muzzle.

The 12-page tutorial describes cutting, bias tape, and final assembly with step-by-step instructions and photos of the steps. Tutorial text is written in English. Included is letter-sized (8.5x11 inch) and a4-sized (210x297 mm) formatted PDFs for printing.

Supplies needed:

• Printer (to print the pattern!)

• Mesh fabric (about 10 x 24 inches used)

• Bias Tape (about 75 inches used)

• Slider or Buckle (1)

• Webbing for straps (about 40 inches used)

• Scissors

• Sewing Machine

• Clips or Pins

Helpful but not required:

• Cutting mat

• Rotary cutter

• Straight edge

This pattern is intended as a silly and fun fursuit prop and is not designed for use on real animals. Be smart! This prop does close the mouth of the fursuit, so a path of ventilation may be cut off and may restrict your duration of wear during each outing!
