Premium Tutorial: Tailoring a Hoodie with Ear Pockets

Learn the steps on how to tailor an existing hoodie to have ear pockets fitted to your fursuit! This tutorial focuses on how to edit an existing garment to feature those ear pockets instead of making one from scratch. Good for beginners to tailoring! You can pick out and add fabric that matches to create this look, or you can use a 2nd garment cut apart to use for matching materials.

Have fun dressing up your characters!! One of the fun things about having a costume like a fursuit is imagining how the character would dress. Sometimes a simple hoodie is all that is needed to add a lot of character to costumes!

While it is entirely possible to make clothes for your costumes from scratch, this tutorial focuses on editing an existing garment to accommodate the ears. By making use of a sewing machine to match seam style of an existing manufactured garment you edit it with the instructions.

Materials

• 2 of the same garment you wish to modify. (One will be used as materials for the other.)

• Paper to draft the patterns with.

• Seam ripper.

• Scissors.

• Chalk or similar fabric marking tool.

• Pins or clips.

• Sewing machine & matching thread.

• Measuring tape.

Optional

• Supplemental fabric (if you are using 1 garment).

(This would be from the fabric store and matches the garment type and colors. Amounts will depend on patterns you measure.)
